Lead Like Jesus Simulcast

What a great time spent learning about leadership principals, the Godly way, a servant’s way, to lead. There were about 26 in attendance, with the majority being members of Grace. The event was uplifting, encouraging, and informative.

Servant Leadership was the theme of the simulcast. How do we lead? Do we lead with others in mind or do we lead with ourselves in mind? Servant Leadership is when we lead with others in mind. That is how Jesus lead.  Jesus was perfect; therefore He was and still is a perfect example for us in how to lead. If we truly want to be obedient to God then we must learn from Jesus, be like Jesus, love like Jesus, lead like Jesus. We are all in contact with people every day, with family, friends, co-workers, strangers, how we interact with these people is our influence over them. Let us influence with a servants heart.

All the speakers were great and each had something to share that was pertinent to servant leadership. My favorite part of the simulcast was when John Ortberg spoke about spending the day with Jesus, taking Him with us throughout our day. When John starts his day shaving, he prays for God to shave the ungodly thoughts from his mind and replace them with God’s thoughts. When John reads the newspaper, he would pause and pray for those he is reading about who are in need. When John is driving in his car he would take Jesus along. Then he asks the question, would you drive differently if Jesus were in the car with you? When we eat a meal invite Jesus to join us, and thank Him for the blessing of food. When you retire for the evening, thank Jesus for being with you. Every day is a new opportunity to take Jesus along with you throughout your day.

At the end of the day we were each given a shoe mitt (the mitts used to polish shoes). We were to go around the room, kneel down and (symbolically) polish each others shoes. It was meant to represent Jesus washing the disciple’s feet. It summarized the day of teaching by showing us leadership Jesus’ way is in service to others. The more we allow Jesus to be with us the more He will influence us and the more like Jesus we will influence others.

I am so very thankful to everyone who helped to make this simulcast a success.

In service to Christ,
