Younger members of
the congregation usually fill the acolyte position however, it is not
limited to any particular age bracket. The primary duty of the acolyte is to
make sure the altar candles are lit before the service and extinguished after
the service. They are also to be
available to assist the pastor or deacons at the services. We ask the acolyte to be at the church
at least fifteen minutes before the service starts so that the Deacon in charge
of the service knows that he or she is there.
